The Game
Salty Seas is an open world massive multiplayer 3D pirate game that runs in the browser. Hundreds of players share one persistent open world ocean, inspired by the Caribbean between about 1700 and 1830, when the Royal Navy, the fleets of France and Spain, privateers, and outright pirates all fought over the same waters.
Sail your ship
Every player can take the helm. Set your heading, watch the wind and the swell, and keep an eye on the horizon, because every sail out there belongs to another real player. Ships are crewed: one person can sail alone, but a coordinated crew that splits the helm and the guns is far deadlier.
Crew up
The open seas are a free-for-all. Form a group with friends and their names show as friendly, everyone else is a potential enemy. Small crews hunting together, big crews running a warship, and lone wolves all share the same ocean.
Fight at sea
Ship cannons fire solid shot that reaches across the water and tears into hulls. Up close, load grapeshot to sweep the enemy's deck. Sink your enemies outright, or pull alongside, climb aboard, and take the ship the old-fashioned way.
Fight on deck
On foot you carry the weapons of the age: flintlock muskets, pistols, hand cannons, and the sabre for when it gets close. Boarding actions come down to quick shooting and quicker steel.
